
Unescape
It is necessary to unescape escaped data
in order to recover the data. Escaping is a
mechanism that uses a special pattern of data (the escape
character or sequence) to indicate that the data following it
should be interpreted specially (i.e., unescaped).

Detail:
Examples include the "+++" escape sequence required to switch
Hayes-compatible modems to command mode, the VT100 or ANSI escape
sequences used to control text terminals, and the & escape
used to introduce HTML character entity references.
The HTML ">" character entity reference is unescaped to
the '>' character.
